My 8ba has the number j2992 on yhe bellhousing boss.can the year of manufacture be determined from this? Can anyone help with this? Thanks guys!

That is probably a casting number.

If it has a date of manufacture it will be on the pass.side rear intake manifold mounting surface.

Maybe at one time, but the casting records no longer exist. Some later blocks have date codes steel stamped into the intake manifold area of the blocks.
