Some of you may have read my post a week ago about my trouble finding black duck for the headliner in my 30 PU. Just before I found some locally, I placed an order with Lebaron-Bonney for their headliner kit. They said they didn't have black canvas duck but were using a black denim instead. Well, I thought, that's close, so I ordered some ($5 for the cloth, $12.50 for S&H). Then I got a call back from a local sailmaker who said he had some black duck. I said I'd wait till my other order came through, and I'd compare.
The L-B order arrived today, and what they are calling black denim is actually a very light-weight, almost see-through polyester of some sort. POS. I wouldn't use that stuff in a rat rod, let alone a restoration. I'll send it back, of course, but I really expected better from the upholstery house that claims to be the best.
I went right over to the sail maker and bought his 100% cotton canvas black duck.
The best online lead I got from a fellow barner was fabric.com, if you need to order some of the correct material.
