Big truck 6cyl.

From the 1952 Dealer Handbook, the Big "L" head 6 was 254 c.i. with 112 max gross h.p. at 3,500 r.p.m. in the conventional cab model. Max gross torque was 217 lbs. ft. at 1,400 to 1,700 r.p.m. Interesting, Ford rated the engine differently in the COE model. It was rated at 110 h.p. at 3,400 r.p.m. and 216 lbs. ft. at 1,300 to 1,700 r.p.m. Stu

Walt: You didn't say whether or not you have one of these beasts. If you do and are considering building it, you might check with Bob Selzam down in Jackson, NJ. He has a lot of Ford truck stuff- big help on my 337 Lincoln rebuild. He may have the big 6 stuff. An odd thing: the bore and stroke of the 337 and the 254 are nearly alike. (the stroke in the 337 is 4.375, the stroke in the 254 is 4.400)

I ran an .080 over 8mth in a buisness coupe with 1 to 2 barrel adapter, it was a sleeper with torque out the kazoo !! just killed the v8s, lots of hot water sixes too. LOL 1952 was avery good year ernie n tx
