Best continuous-use electric fuel pump??

...

My Airtex pump turned up yesterday [thanks Rockauto] so I will see how that goes as a priming pump. I take it that little canister that's attached to it is a fuel filter not a valve?

Yes, it's a filter, and I have been tempted to put a larger one in its place.

Just an update on my fuel pump situation. I received the new Carter pump from Fifth Ave. on Friday. I was able to replace the old pump over the weekend. I started the truck and was amazed at how quiet the pump was in comparison to what I had been using. I started the engine and the fuel pressure was fine. I let it run for a few minutes and all looked okay. Now, when I am up to it I will take it for a drive. Fingers crossed.

By the way, the new Carter pump appears to be a P60504 and is made in the USA. :D It is gear-driven like an oil pump.

Thanks again to everyone for their tips and advice.

If you research this site, you will find comments on the Purolater Facet pumps made in the USA in NY state. They come in various PSI, and are self regulating. They are used on experimental aircraft, and are sold by Aircraft and Spruce. Call tech at Purolater in NY, and they will help you id the model you need, 12V or 6V, and the pre-regulated pressure and GPH you want. $33.00. No pressure regulator or relays needed.

John,

I am 12 volt and I am using a Holley 804 low-pressure regulator. I still have not had a chance to really give it a test drive as yet but I will keep you posted.
