Beltline painting issues

I have seen it advertised by Bill Hirsch, I think, but expect it is very pricey. The Red I bought 15 years ago, and I use the 5 gallon drum size "gun cleaner" lacquer thinner ! The black is from my father's unheated garage when it has resided since the early 70'S ! I have quite a collection of old lacquer and find that it can always be thinned down and brought back to life.

Well, now I'm even more impressed knowing the paint is that old. I guess lacquers and enamels don't have a shelf life like the modern paints.

You can get acrylic lacquer from TCP Global in either PPG or their house brand called Restoration Shop. They can mix all of the Model A colors plus just about anything else you can think of.

Thanks for the tip, I'll look it up.

Well the warm days we have been having have allowed me to finish the rub out of the DD. I am very pleased with the results of this 15 year old lacquer. (the black is closer to 40 years old) ! Nothing like the depth and gloss of good old lacquer. I rubbed through in a few places on the beltline and will touch them up with an airbrush, then it's the Vermilion red pinstripe, and the outside is done ! I need to make two bedstrips and put shocks on and my ( now it's 16 years) project is complete. I started this with my father who is now gone so it is very special to me to bring this gargantuan effort to a conclusion. And ,oh yes, he has continued to help me with it to this day. Some of you will understand this. Thanks, Dad :)
I will post more thorough pics when the stripe is on.

I have conversations with my Dad (1979, don't tell anyone, they'll think I'm "touched"), and now my Mom (2011) all the time.
