Bell systems truck

Well hello again Ford barn. It has been a long time since I've posted anything, so long that I don't remember if I had ever done so. I have been working on this truck for most of my son's life. He is now ten. It began as a traditional model a V8 project, but somehow turned into a 39 Ford pickup. Listen to the advice stick to your original plan, hindsight. Now after four or five years I can tell you it's more than that.
Although I would rather have a t or a roadster. This truck was exciting, than not exciting, than was again.
It's exciting again because now I realize it is a work truck. There is a sticker on the dash that says.

"No work is so important and no service so urgent that we cannot take time to perform our work safely... Bell systems".

I remember i brought the truck home excited to start working on it than realized it has the wrong bed. Which discouraged me a bit. But now after having it this long and living with the wrong bed, and the Bell systems sticker I put two and two together. I have a Bell systems truck without the utility bed. Along it's life the utility bed was removed , the truck was painted multiple times. Now time has revealed the original green paint. So the point of this post...... Does anyone know what kind of utility bed would have been used Bell systems In 1939!

Hi;There is a Bell systems truck fellow in MA. Has a '36 all finished and in Oregon there is an unrestored '36 with matching Bell trailer for sale in a V8er's estate sale. RG 10. Newc

Picture is obviously not of a '39 Ford, but the utility bed is very similar to the Bell trucks I frequently saw as a kid. I've always loved that distinctive color of their trucks! Sorry this pic is black & white.

Utility beds are very very neat, rarely seen or restored. Nice stuff as they are mostly "coach built" stuff.

ford offered Model T chassis and A chassis with drive trans and cowls to consumers. hence the wood tucks T.

30's commercials were available without beds to add. Still till today i believe.
