Beehive oil filter

The man that rebuilt the engine would not guarantee the rebuild if the filter was hooked up, therefore I never hooked the filter up.

Odd, don't see why it would be any different than the original by-pass filter. Both have little to no impact on oil pressure.

I think the engine rebuilder's objection to the filter was from his past experiences with the external lines failing and thereby causing an engine failure from loss of oil.
I had a '38 Chevy in 1951 that had a "Fram" filter mounted to the intake manifold. One of the oil lines ruptured in a very remote area in Wyoming, big mess in the engine compartment, I was able to collapse/bend the steel line stopping the oil leak.

Fortunately I only lost about two quarts of oil so I was able to drive the car into the closest town.
