dumb question but I'm rebuilding my transmission and the 2 old bearings on the shafts are the unsealed type. I'm replacing with the sealed on one side variety. Do I need to pack some grease in those first or will they get enough from the transmission oil?
No grease, it would be a waste of your time for one thing as it would soon be mixed in with the rest of the oil. I would unseal them, the seals pry off easily. I also recommend modern oil, 90 wt.
