battery reversal

A friend of mine recently bought his first Model A.The battery was pretty weak so he took it to the garage to have it replaced.This was duly done but after a while he noticed that the ampmeter was showing discharge.The installer was adamant that he installed the new battery the same way as the old one.{???}Can any damage be done to the electrics if we experiment by reinstalling the battery the opposite way to what it is now?

Just install the battery the correct way with POSITIVE ground, then use a short wire to jump the 2 cutout terminals together for 1 second. Now everything should be OK.

I had the same problem. Just follow Tom's advise.
