I noticed on my53 customline that my oil gauge stopped working. At the same time I started having a battery drain. Could a bad oil sending unit drain a battery?
I don't thing the oil pressure sending unit would cause a battery drain, however if you disconnect your battery and place a test light between the battery and the battery cable ( in series) and the bulb glows you have a drain you could then disconnect your sending unit and confirm if that is the problem.
The sending unit is a sub-circuit, the control circuit, of the gauge. It receives a small amount of current output from the gauge. The gauge has no power to it unless ignition switch is on.
So no, don’t see how a sender could be related to your battery drain.
