Battery disconnect switch

If you have installed a fuse in your electrical system, just pull it when you put 'im in the garage. Lay it on top of the cylinder head. No hole drilling required.

The question was: which side to place a cutout switch for power from a battery to the system; In this situation it would be the positive side that should be switched. Line Kill.
The other way, If any other wire ever came back to the battery ground side you could short back to the ground, dangerous. If you wanted to run any accessory and wanted to keep power to it you would have to do that.
Second: These switches are not designed for exposure to water or heat and tend to decompose when exposed, when they decompose they tend to either leave you by the roadside with a propped up thumb or burn your car up or burn your car up and burn your shop up with your car, or electrocute the s-it out of you when you flip the switch.
So, first, don't be a cheap a-- and buy a junk one, second mount it where its not gonna get wet and or hot or salty, oh yes and third inspect it for any signs of corrosion and replace it and sell the used one at a swap meet to a Chevy guy.

I am sorry that I don't have a picture, but if you look at the picture that horse whisperer has you will see a rectangle hole in the motor mount. Sorry for the confusion when I said cross member. He used a nice looking mount for the switch. They were'nt available when I installed my or I would have done it like that.

Why do you turn the switch off every time you shut the car off? I only shut my battery switch off when I have to kill the power for something. There has been a few times when my model A was stored for several months and I shut off the battery switch.

I installed the switch after adding a 6 to 12v Power Inverter to run GPS navigation. Before that I got in the habit of pulling the fuse in case of stuck contact points in the cutout or diode failure, which will drain the battery. Turning the ignition key off doesn't mean there is no current.

I turn mine off every time i park somewhere. Mainly just in case the points stick in the cutout. Even though it would probably show on the amp gauge, i just got in the habit to switch it.
