Bare blocks

I'm going to a auction this weekend. That has some Model A parts. There are quite a few blocks there. I have no idea what shape they are in. All the rest of the parts are there. But the guy took everything apart. And categorized the parts. So everything is being sold apart. What's a good price for the blocks? I am going to try and buy all I can there. I don't see prices getting out of hand at it.

for an unknown block, 50-100 bucks

those cranks and cams look pretty rusty...bring your calipers to check to see if the journals are too far gone

I think quite a bit of the parts that are there. Are just parts that probably should have been thrown to scrap. But the main reason for going. There are a bunch of things like gas tanks and fenders. Some doors and other body parts. There are some generators and starters and distributors. And a bunch of wheels and steering wheels.

the blocks sitting in the dirt need to have the pan rails looked at to be sure they are intact....the pan rails are an important reference point for line boring

I think most of the stuff will go pretty cheap. It's in a small town. And don't think there is enough there for people to make a very long drive.

I'd offer scrap price for it. From the looks of the cans and the fence posts that's about what he had in mind anyway. You're just saving him the trouble of loading it up and hauling it off.
You might have to give a little more, but not much.
Good Luck:)

If you buy the tanks and a good one has an early April of 29 date on it I may be interested in one. Might take me a couple of weeks to scrape together some money for it. Rod

I allready have quite a few model a engines. But was wanting to try and buy what all I could. I know some stuff is going to be junk. I'm mainly wanting to get a bunch of stuff to put together a back half of a coupe I bought. I hoped that he had a cowl for a coupe. But I think there is going to be a lot of stuff there I need.

Bart78............ at least if you pay not much more than actual scrap value at the least, you won't be hurt plus you may be saving some good Model A iron.

Bid accordingly let us know how it comes out for you good luck.

I'll be interested to see how this works out. Good luck. This kind of stuff just doesn't seem to be around central PA.
