Bad start...Happy ending

well I got a few hours lately to get back to work on the 39. I had to go over what I had started and stopped over the last few months and wouldn't you know there are some things missing:D

Ken Isidor may get a good laugh from this. Months ago I had ordered a strom. throttle link/misc for my cab lever connection to the carb. He mailed it in a nice manila envelope and I had remembered checking out the parts and @ some point would get to that install.

Of course its now November and do you think I put that part in a "handy" easy to get location, No. So after several hours of pick'in and paw'in through boxes and shelves full of catalogs and dozens of empty manila envelopes from previous orders I see the Bob Drake "end of summer savings" catalog and you know what I had tucked in the middle:eek:

I spend more time looking for things I "just put down there a minute ago...."

Of course nobody else here ever does that....................

Been there. It gets better(actually worse) with age. Blame it on the shop gremlins. Glad you found the parts. Have a Shipyard ale to celebrate your victory over the gremlins.

Geeze,i thought I was the only one that happened to,welcome to the club. I do this all the time. I must get back in the shop and find that little critter,i had it 2 days ago in my hand,oh where did I stash it. ken ct LOL :):):)

Oh man - this is a terrible affliction! I have it and it drives me nuts! It can be 2 months or 2 minutes but I put something down, can't find it, and look hours for it. Oh well, I guess it could be worse!

Those Gremlins has made it to Ohio. I start out hunting the part i needed and then can't remember what i am looking for.

Thanks Ken for sending that little ******* Gremlin to upper Connecticut. I've had him with me for years now. It started when the hair started graying
Bruce/CT

He's everywhere, even central Conn. My garage lies in wait just for a chance to swallow something up. I will put things in a special place so I will remember where it is for next time, and wouldn't you know it.... I can't find it! Damn those gremlins!!

I have "IT" twice as bad. I have shops in FL. and PA. both with a lot of parts and tools. When I need a part or tool I can see it but not sure what shelf or drawer it in. Most times it's easier to buy a new small part then look through my pile. When working on something or carrying a part in the shop to work on I'm starting to get very careful where I set it down. I try to put things like keys, sunglasses and similar things in the same place all the time. You have to adjust to make due with what's left. G.M.

ha ha ha you guys are funny.:D
I had a very nice tool pouch that the wife made for me out of thick vinyl that rolled up & tied with some straps. Every wrench had it's own slot. Well we were having a garage sale so I placed it in the shop so it would not be sold. Some time later I went to look for it & yeah I could not locate it.:( Man I accused half the people that came to the garage sale of taking it. I went thru every vehicles trunk & every hiding place I could think of,even the microwave oven. Not to be had anywhere:mad:. Advance 3-4 years later & I'm looking for a part & looked under the seat of the T-bird. Holly toledo what do I find but my trusty tool pouch:p:o. Now I'm worrying about finding all the flathead pieces & parts when I get back up north.

Ever notice that the last tool/part you used perfectly hides the next thing you need.
I often walk to another area of the shop and wonder what the hell I went for.
I'm convinced we could live forever if we didn't wear out our bodies going here and there looking for something or foretting why we made the trip in the first place.
Time to label the drawers I use to organize things!
I'm 72. Be interesting to know average age of Barners. Too many recognize these symptoms!!

It's OK when you recognize the symptoms it's when you don't your in trouble. G.M.

I cain't remember when I was born, I know I was pretty young. Walt, I think.
Hey Walt, you have forgotten more than most of us young'ins will ever know.

This aint good. I just turned 50 last month, I'm my own worst "gremlin". About every couple months will venture out to the garage and have a "spring cleaning" and the invoices, manila envelopes, catalogs and V8 times get made into a stack and stacked next to the other stacks on the shelves.

This is were I realy get into trouble:D. Scott
