Back Bumpers

Any comments about stainless versus chrome back bumpers on a non-fine points Cabriolet?
Mine are showing their age and exhaust influence.
Does 68C take the same back bumpers as "standard"?
Kevin from NJ had mentioned there is a noticable difference, chrome being better, though the SS are more expensive than the chrome ones.
Thanks.

One advantage to the S.S. is that it will out last a chrome plating job. When new, The Chrome looks better, but is more vulnerable to eventual peeling. Almost nothing touches the stainless steel. However, There are many grades of stainless steel. It is divided into two main groups, The "three hundred series" (308, 316 etc.) Non magnetic, non corrosive, and the four hundred series, (410, 416 etc.) which is slightly magnetic and will rust. Needless to say, but it makes a big difference which stainless steel they are selling as a bumper.

In my opinion? I'd go for the stainless steel. You say you don't have a fine points car. So do as I did and go stainless. I don't have to worry about the rust anymore. If I get a scratch on it, all I have to do is buff it out. If you get a scratch on chrome you either re chrome it or live with it. It's was just a matter of how lazy I was. I spend enough time keeping the body all polished up nice, now I just wipe down the bumpers and they look as good as new. I have chrome on my coupe and every month I have to use chrome cleaner on them. I'm glad I have stainless on my town sedan. To me they look just as good. Now all I got to do is fine a stainless muffler to go with it. Sorry to all you purist out there.

Thanks
The back bumpers don't conflict with the grill and even the front bumper is covered with things that it won't cause conflict with the grill.
