Hello. I am wondering if anyone on the East coast of Australia has had a recent babbitt job done on a model A that they were happy with. Any recommendations would be much appreciated. Best regards -Ed

Egge machining in Forer st. Dookie. They have a reputation of being the best in Victoria. I currently have three engines there being done. I haven't heard a bad thing about them yet.

Have you tried contacting the Model A club in Canberra.
I had mine done by a guy in Wagga Wagga. He has done a few. The price for mine was around $1000.

There is someone on the central coast that a lot of the NSW guys use sorry can not remember the name but contact the local club
also here in vic there is eldrigde motors can recommend them good prices good work just need to wait in the queue real old school guys

Thanks everyone. Very helpful. I believe the central coast fella is in Nabiac but I haven't tracked him down yet.

So you are the one Dave that dropped the 3 motors off at Egge :)
I dropped my pulled down A motor at Egge a few weeks ago and was told some guy had dropped off 3 A motors.
Amazing place just looking inside the door, old engines of all descriptions. Had a good look over a Buick 4 cylinder just inside the main door, did like the complete wrap around insert brass bearings in that motor.

Yes, that's me, and also a B. I was going to drop off 5 plus the B. I have a few A's in my collection.

I've heard nothing bad about the guy in Dookie - the same with Bill Eldridge in Melbourne. (03) 97988636. He pours his own white metal, bores, line bores etc etc in his shop and has been doing so for decades.

I have actually asked about insert mains, if my "pulled from a farmers paddock" engine can be bored 125" to remove heavy cylinder pitting this block will be inserts.
Otherwise will need another block. Not wanting the extra expense of sleeveing
