B Carb Warning

When installing a "B" carb, using vendor's bolts that have been machined to allow the carb to rotate slightly so choke rod will work........watch out for the front bolt. It may be to long and contact the top casting, before it tightens the gasket and crack the upper casting of the carb.
Don't ask how I know.

If you're using a stock Model A intake manifold there is no need to rotate the carb to line up the choke rod. "Don't ask how I know." Yeh, I know the A manifold throat is supposedly smaller than the B, but it can be easily blended at the exit with a small grinding disc (think porting kits). Or a machine shop can do it for you. I know there's a couple HP to be gained by this. Dennis Piranio's shop has this service in their catalog, so if you're taking the A manifold off it's cheaper to have a shop modify it than to find an original B.
Fearless

It was on a B manifold. This was a B carb with the round float. I have the same on another A but it's a B carb with the square float, and the clearance was minimum, but OK.
