I would like to know the axle position on a 34. Is the axle in front of or behind the spring? I know it is not directly under it like a Model A.
The front axle is directly under the spring. See: http://www.vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/...pics/Flathead_Suspension_1933to48-passngr.jpgI would like to know the axle position on a 34. Is the axle in front of or behind the spring? I know it is not directly under it like a Model A.
I thought it the same as a 32. Both front and rear
Ford put the spring behind the rear axle as a progression to get their cars lower to the ground for that more streamlined look. Later they put the front spring in front of the front axle to get the front down even more.
It makes me smile that a lot of our original production cars were actually influenced by customized vehicles of the day that were lowered and given streamlined roof lines and the Ford engineers following suit to please the buyer's market.
