AV8 finally on the road

I know this site is more for the stockers. I thought some guys might appreciate this car, as it's built with a lot of old Ford parts,in a 1940's fashion. I bought this car off of an 81 yr old man named Herman. He started hot rodding it in 49', it ran a banger motor with a Winfield head.

That is too cool! It looks like you have completed Herman's vision. I absolutey love the full top with the side curtains. Do you have any idea what your trunk handle (Zephyr?) came off of?

-Mitch

hey thanks guys..i thought that handle was 39.but wasnt sure.
and yeah im running just straight pipes off the headers

Awesome A!! Herman ought to be proud of you! as for being worried about showing a traditional rod on this site,I think you will find that respectably modified old fords on this site far out number the purist. "just my observation"

Thanks for showing us your ride. Im jealous, wish mine was at this stage. Im driving 2 thousand miles tomorrow and the next day to pick up my29 roadster body, actually making a vacation out of it. Going to hit my favorite junkyard in noth dakota at the same time. My chassis is finally up on wheels cant wait to set the body on it and see what it looks like! Rich

That's a very cool car. Thanks for sharing. Best of luck with it. Is that pic from the Showdown?

Av8's are a blast. They're a little rough riding but the rest of the car's personality makes up for that. Mine has a mercury 276 2x2, 4 speed, and a early bronco 9" with 3:70's. It's all about fun, Chuck.

tuki ..................
That is one great looking AV8 !
I grew up in West Virginia, going to all car shows, for decades, but do not remember ever seeing that car. What part of West Virginia are it and you from ?
You are really doing that car justice, by keeping it in it's intended construction.
How about a little history ?
Thanks for posting !
MIKE :)

Thanks, I grew up around Charleston and moved to Spencer. That's almost a world apart from the Martinsburg area. That explains why I never saw it. I like it !
Thanks again,
MIKE :)
