How is this any worse than rolling along with 10 gallons of gas a
Almost in your lap?
One thought for me is the electric fuel pump. In modern applications, the pump is usually triggered by an oil pressure switch that in the event of some type of accident, the engine and the fuel pressure are shut-off simultaneously. With this set-up, there is no safety measures with the pump, albeit granted the gravity set-up is not totally safe either.
One other thought I do have to ponder, is for all the additional work and expense of "jury rigging" to mount an auxiliary tank, wouldn't it have been just as easy to repair/restore the rusty original tank? What did I miss in that regard??
Every time I try it it just says "upload Failed"![]()
Being the owner of a '29 leaky gas tank, I too was exploring all options on repairing/replacing/substituting. I had thought about an auxiliary too. I've read many accounts of the difficulties and issues encountered in removing and repairing the stock 29 tank. So FWIW, to even consider replacing the tank with an auxiliary of some kind was perhaps it could be the lesser of two evils. One other thought I do have to ponder, is for all the additional work and expense of "jury rigging" to mount an auxiliary tank, wouldn't it have been just as easy to repair/restore the rusty original tank?
