Autolite 2100 Throttle Bushings

I am in the process of rebuilding a pair of Autolite 2100 1.02 venturi carbs for a 6 cylinder dual carb setup. I have taken them apart and done all the normal rebuild stuff. The throttle shaft on one carb has more play than I would like to have and I would like to re-do the throttle shaft bushing.

What is the best way to proceed. Are there kits for the job? I don't have a mill or lathe. Are the shafts 5/16 or 3/8 ?

Bushings and reamers are avaiable from McMaster-Carr. I don't have one of those carbs laying around to measure the shaft so I can't give the diameter.
Those are terrible carburetors for what you want to do, just terrible.
I don't know how big your engine is or what intake etc - the carbs I would use are the holley 350cfm because they are more durable, the metering is tuneable, airflow is less turbulent, they are basically race carbs modified for street. If you have a problem at the track you can get parts from the guy pitted next to you.
Those autolite 2100's are terrible carbs and I'd hate to see you invest many hours of effort, go to the track to have fun and them things crap out on you.

oj -- Thanks for the bushing & reamer company information. A pair of the Holley 350 is to big for my Generation 3 194" Chevy built 6 cylinder motor. I run a Clifford Dual 4bl with 2bl adapters. Motor puts out 165 HP with dual Holley 94's right now (about 320cfm total) and I want to run close to 475-500 cfm. Thanks for your information. Tom

Yes, I see where you are trying to get to. The 350's would be too large unless you had stupid rpm. I saw your posts about the 94's and wondered if that was a different combination.
Let me do some digging, the autolite might be same size shaft as holley, if so I can loan you my reamer and fix you up with bushings. The reamer is trickier than you'd think because is passes thru the bores and reams backwards to align the holes.
I'll get back to you.

oj -- The 194" L6 I have in the vintage dragster has a milled (.060") head with bigger valves & springs, small chamber 10.75 CR, Clay Smith .589/.589 cam, runs 6600 RPM in the lights. It runs a pair of Holley 94 carbs that are like Stronberg 97. Carbs use 4.5 power valves and run 51 jets. Picture below shows the current setup.

I measured my 2100 throttle shaft and they are 0.375 (3/8"). The driver side bushing is 0.900" long and the passenger side is 0.800 long.

Thank you very much for the offer, maybe it will work out. Tom

Thats a sweet ride Tom, very nice.
I think the holley bushing would work, they measure .367ish so you'd have to hone them for final fit.
One pic shows the reaming tool and a couple bushings, the 2nd pic shows the reamer chucked up. You ream by puliing it twards you up to the tape, then reverse it for the other side so that one side aligns the other.
If you want to give it a shot shoot me a PM.
.589 cam is a monster!
