Autolite 2100 and Holley 2300

Can somebody give me the lowdown on when these carburetors came out and on what? It appears the 2100 was the standard Ford 2bbl for the 1960s, but I thought I'd read that the 2300 predated it?

both came out in 57 on fords.

And the 2300 didn't stick around as an OE part? Was there a difference between which engines received them, or did it just vary by assembly plant?

u.s. models got the 2100 and all canadian models got holleys until 63 when they went 2100.
