Auction

a true glutton for punishment, I will be there tomorrow.
curious to see what some of the small parts lots go for.
a few looked interesting, many of the others are not worth $1.00.
went today to get a closer look at the Jeep truck.
preview was scheduled for 10:00 am- 4:00 pm.
got there at 11:00 am, no Jeep truck, and none of the Model A parts were available to see.
it was raining hard. the auction guy said they could not transport the Jeep in the rain. successfully restrained myself from telling him that my cars are mostly waterproof.
went back this afternoon- the Jeep arrived at 3:30. it runs nice but the body is very poorly "restored" and the modern spoker wheels make it look like a redneck special.
most of the cars looked good. will be interesting to see what they go for.
will report back tomorrow PM......

The auction is over. The cars sold for good prices and some low. Nice 31 roadster for 12,000 Phaeton sold for low price of 11,000 Sport coupe at 10,000 so prices were good. The small parts sold for some low and some high prices. The motors sold too high for me and have to check them out before I could sell them. I did leave cards with all 3 so if the new owner gets a dud he will know where to get it built. Chris in WNC has a list and knows exactly what sold for what.

my first Model A auction ever, first auction of any kind since the '80s.

highest priced car was 31 Deluxe Roadster selling for $15,000
28 Roadster close second at $14,500
some of the cars had reserves that were not met.

one engine went for $800, then the next one with a transmission attached only went for $400. go figure. all were potential pigs in pokes.

new Lion head brought $375. 3 used stock heads went high @ $20-30-60

I bought 3 items. one was a box of distributors- when I was loading it into my car, I discovered a new set of kingpins hiding under the other junk.

small crowd, but most of the things I was interested in went higher than the cheapskate prices I was willing to pay :p still a fun morning........
