Auction buy has finally arrived

A 1930 Coupe purchased by the auction company that I work for has just arrived this morning. Early Christmas!

An older restoration but still quite nice, and no rust discovered yet.

What I've been told is that it was a Wisconsin car and garage kept, only making it out for the parades on occasion.

There is one thing however that is unfamiliar to me and it is the valve in the neck of the water outlet atop the block. What is it far?

Lance. My wife and I and 2 grandchildren were at the Walker x-mas parade last saturday with about 8 cars of the RED STICKS, thought I would see you . That is a nice looking coupe there, you gonna be the main company driver? have fun modelAtony Lafayette,la

I agree with the hot water heat. Is the something on the lower radiator tube and or engine block inlet? The top rests on the back, aren't they for roadsters?

It is nearly impossible for me to hit a $ amount on this car for our auction, if and when it is sold the earliest it would be is in March. But I can assure you that while we don't sell many Classic cars at our auctions (mostly Construction Eq.) when we do, they will usually bring top dollar. (Benefit of the uneducated bidders not knowing actual value)

@Tony, Sorry I did not make that parade due to the sale we had 5 minutes down the road from the parade route. Where we sold a $50K Bentley, a $50K Belaire conv., and a Stunning '95 Corvette w/250 org. miles. But my favorite was the '67 Barracuda conv. A good Day

Those are not top rests - they are grab handles for a rumbleseat. The roadster also has 4 rubber bumpers in the center of that deck to hold the back window up a little. It is stunning how much one learns in a short time with a new car and a pile of parts vendor's books...

More pics from under the hood and of the fire wall.

The bar between the rear bumper I suspect is for a trailer hitch attachment.

I have one on my Tudor, only it has a different design. Mine is sort of twisted and much heavier. More than one after market design I'm sure.

Notice the dual horns.

Those "handles", actually are roadster top rests. Ford Motor Co. did not install them on anything but roadsters and cabriolets. A lot of owners did install them on their coupes.

Ummm dude, you need to be stunned into learning some more. If it's in the parts vendors' books, it must be true - yeah, right!! Despite what the catalogs tell you, those are top rests, NOT grab handles - Ford never installed rumble seat grab handles on anything. At least you're right about the rubber window bumpers.

Lance, Just an observation. In your firewall photo, a better hole plug should be used than the old sock that is hanging out of the firewall heater manifold hole, and the sock looks to be resting on the exhaust manifold. If the sock plug catches fire, the oli soaked floor boards could also add to the flames and so forth. The exhaust manifold can glow red hot at night if you were to retard the spark a bit. The hot manifold would be plenty enough hot to burn anything flamable.

The picture of the motor makes it appear as if the car was in flood waters for a while.

Heater it self is no longer in the car. The holes in the fire wall are actually pluged with steal wool. But the entire engine bay is covered in oil. I tinkered with the car alittle before I left the office but looks to need a few things. A new battery and distributer wire for starters. I've yet to hear it run.

I actually want to go to work tomorrow and inspect the car more extensively, shame that this is my first weekend off in over a month and the wife would shoot me if I went in. it will have to wait till Monday.
Still plenty to due on my Tudor at home.

Just saying....how do people come up with such utterly revolting colour combinations?
...baby sh*t brown & urine yellow...
"oh yes Martha I always thought that old house paint would come in handy...it appears we've saved enough $ on paint to get them whitewall tires she deserves"
How can we question that much of todays youth prefer hotrods & flatblack ratrods, when we do stuff like this to our beloved Model A's?

To some it's Baby Sh*t brown and Urine yellow and to others it's Coffee & Cream. Beauty is most certainly in the eye of the beholder.:D

I am not a huge fan of this particular color scheme but truth be told it looks better in person than in a digital image.

But I do like the matching of wheel color to accent trim.
Ive seen far worse. (Apple Green Wheels on any color car are not for me)

And in the defense of other poor souls who are hopelessly color blind and paint their cars to look like something rejected by a rodeo clown.

They can always find there car in the crowded parking lot!:)
