at the drags with the flathead

Hi Lawrie,

Always great to follow your episodes. A buddy of mine in California ( East Bay Area ) introduced me to Ron Sterbenk a few years ago, and I always visit him when in the area. Ron does all of his work in his home garage and I am always in awe at what he does with a flathead in his dragster. E.T. 8.70 at 157 mph. His block is filled with aluminum, runs 80% nitro through modified Hilborn injectors. Ron is 70+ year young and is still a kid at heart….aren’t we all! I don’t believe Ron does the internet thing…..and maybe you know him in one form or another. When he broke a record at Pomona a few years ago, the story goes….questioned by a crew guy helping out…” Ron, did you realize that your front wheels never touched the ground until you were quite a bit underway?…and Ron answers…” Hell no, I was too busy hanging on dear life and making sure I am going straight”. ( I believe his words were a bit more in depth…but censorship prevails here ) You are doing a great job keeping the flathead spirit high…..Cheers…Robert
