At least I got to drive mine!

Well our club planned for International Model A Day by arranging for a Ford Dealer to present our cars along the road in front of his dealership.

Within a few days of the event it was announced at our meeting that the dealer wanted to know if we could come Sunday instead since he felt no one would be out on Saturday (?).

So at the meeting we were all told of the new date.
Saturday morning right after work (I work nights) I drove the hour and a quarter to where my car is temporarily being stored to check the battery and sure enough it was dead. I hooked up the charger to trickle and checked the fluids so I would be ready for Sunday.

Sunday morning after work I again make the drive up to the car and get ready to start it but the started only give about ½ turn and gives up. I guess the battery is in worse shape than I thought.

No problem, I get the crank out and start it up. Now I notice that the tires are in dire need of air so I drive over to the gas station to get air. Once at the station we get the owner to turn on the air and start to fill the tires. Ever try to fill the tire with those air pumps? I swear I took ½ hour. Now I’m going to be a little late so I call the guy in charge to let him know I’m still coming but I get his voice mail. No big deal I figure he is lining up the cars and can’t pick up the phone.

Now I have air and I get the crank out and nothing! A quick check and I run some paper through the points and it fires right up and off we go for the 45 min drive to the dealership.

As we approach the dealership we see nothing, we are 15 minutes late so I expect to see the members there already but nothing. Maybe I have the wrong dealership so down the road for another 15 20 minutes nothing. I try again to call the guy in charge and again his voice mail so I call another member. This member does not have an A but he drives to another member’s house because the other member has a coupe and he drives on of his. Well this guy tells me the event was put off until next week and he found out when he drove 45 minutes to pick up an A to drive.

At least I got to drive mine!

you're in florida , right ? put the phone down , don't do anything for anybody and go about your own business , they don't communicate to well down there . just enjoy your club and your A and it's nobody business but your own.

we don't have a lot of those cars over here (Switzerland)...so they are kind of an attraction at shows etc.
I have some "friends" that call me up, try to make a nice phone buddy and ask me to come for some kind of show, do this or that with my V8's...and then you don't hear from them for years till they remember you because they could use one of the cars...thank's ma'am - I'm not doing this **** anymore! I like a cruise and when it's a good thing I go, but just when I want to...did the other thing too many times!
just my 2 cents...Fonti

Comeon Mike. If you had your cell phone on and an answering machine operating you would have been told the event was cancelled. Tony

Hey Mike, for about 20 bucks Tractor Supply has a neat compressor that I plug into my 12V jump starter. Just dial in the tire pressure and you are good to go. I also use
the jump starter for my 12V impact wrench for changing tires. This is necessary due to my arthritic hands being unable to handle a lug wrench. I charge up my jump starter once every three months. I haven't tried the jump starter on my 6V battery, These tools are always kept in the car. :)

Sounds like something to look at. At home I have a compressor but not at my folks house. Thanks!!!
