Aries Mufflers

Trying to install an Aries muffler and can't get the clamp around the manifold/muffler lip.....even though my manifold is not perfect, all other mufflers I tried worked just fine.

Any experience out there with this? What would I need to do?

Thanks!

I've never had a problem with the Aries mufflers, if you could post a picture of the flange, it might help us answer. It's possible it was damaged in shipping.

I pad a floor jack's plate and jack the muffler up tight against the manifold to clamp it. I also have inverted the clamp! :(

If you have the rear clamp upside down, the wide flange on the pipe at the manifold may not line up correctly. Gar Williams

The clamp worked on all other mufflers??? Did you try the clamp Aries makes???? they work very well.. I keep some in stock just in case someone needs one that works. !

If you are trying to install one of those stupid copper clad gaskets, the don't belong and won't fit. I don't know why they sell the darn things.

Are you using an aftermarket clamp? I tried one of these on my Aries muffler and it did not fit. Went back to the original clamp and it worked fine.

Huh, never knew Aries made a clamp... What about the pipe that people sell that fits up into the manifold and down into the muffler, sposta stop leaks, does that work?

Marco ,,,you are right on with that gasket ...in plan words THEY SUCK and along with the pipe insert.... guess they gotta re-coupe the money they invested in making them...

I bought an Aries muffler recently and had to reverse the clamp (so the tail hung lower) to get it to line up with my old exhaust manifold. I assumed it was my old exhaust manifold but maybe their jig is a little off? Never had trouble on my other car with a new repro exhaust manifold and Aries muffler, but that was a few years ago.

It is a hard job to do by yourself when things aren't lining up right.

Put a new exhaust manifold on today, had to un-reverse the clamp and install it in the correct position. Everything lines up great! I bet your problem is the old exhaust manifold.

They work but restrict the flow. Just remember that any of these things are a bandaid due to something not fitting correctly.

The manifold could be warped so the the pipe does not fit square. The angle of the pipe flange is incorrect. The angle on the pipe bend is not correct. The manifold male flange is pitted. These will lead to problems mounting the muffler and/or cause leaks.
