Are we ever REALLY finished?

I "finished" my '29 Briggs Town Sedan resurection from the grave some time ago, but have not been able to get it out and about .... until today. It just revealed to me that I still have some tweeking to do on various parts. The steering is a bit WOW over the road, speedometer does not work, the windshield wiper needs work (it rains and rains here), and a few other little things that bother me. Will I ever be really finished? The transmission now shifts great after rebuilding the shift tower. I am still learning how to drive this so today I made several short trips, each a little further so I can get the feel of it all. I love it! I even braved Hwy 101 for a bit. Here are a few pics....

It never ends. There will always be something you want to add, tweak, change or something will go wrong. But it doesn't matter as long as you're happy (most of the time) doing it. My car and I literally have a love/hate relationship. Josephine (my car) knows as long as I take care of her she will take care of me. Josephine doesnt always hold up her end of the deal.

She's a beauty! I was Stationed at Ft. Lewis, so understand your comment
about the rain. When my car is/was on the blink, I make a point of driving her
every day even if it's just a half mile to the fast food joint. I can make that
trip last an hour sometimes. I usually find someone who who wants to talk about
the car, etc., etc. As for the rain, in my part of Florida the rain usually lasts for
a short time, but sometimes it seems to come out from nowhere. A lot of guys
swear by Rainex, but I drive mine 365 days a year and won't take a chance with
that stuff. There are times when you need a REAL wiper system. I have an
electric motor I got from Mike's in Georgia and a spring loaded arm I "borrowed" from
my '59 VW and it works like a charm. The points guys turn up their noses at this
thought, but I put safety first. I tried one of the other "A" arms but they tend to
leave the windshield in a heavy rain mixed with a little wind. By the way, the
wiper blade that fits the old bug is a perfect fit for the coupe.

Once again, your car is a real beauty----Go drive it! JMHO

Ask yourself , What is worse ???? The "A":D or a HOUSE:mad:!!!. I'll take the "A" anytime..With the "A" you are dealing with yourself:).....as for the house your dealing with the little woman.:p The "A' will get finished before the house.:D

Great looking car!!

It will never end, but thqat is part of the fun of it. Everything you do makes a small improvement and that's what gives the satisfaction.

Have lots of fun

Dick

Great car! I have always felt that the Town Sedans are the "Queen" of Henry's fleet. You will love having the heater. It will keep the front seat comfy. Gar Williams

The interior is by Classtique and the fabric is a gray check that was I believe avalable for the '29 Murray, but not the Briggs (I won't tell). I (my wife mainly) thought it looked better than the other fabrics that were available at the time with our selected exterior paint.

Yes, I did keep records. It took so far 728 hours, not counting the engine rebuild that was done by someone else. As for cost, well .... we don't talk about that except it was many $$$$s for lots of fun and satisfaction :):):):):):). I had never done anything like this in my life so it was a real fun experience.

nice job i like the color scheme and black wheels. you'll get plenty of compliments on the maroon and black. dont ask me how i know:D

Nice car and very well done.....it looks great and I am sure you will get lots of compliments! I have a 1930 Murray TS and just love it....they are nice drivers and quite comfortable. Here is S. Calif. I do not have to deal with the rain all that much, but can guess an electric wiper might be the ticket........I had one on my 1930 coupe in the 60's, and it worked great. Have lots of fun!

I live in the north east and up here it gets cold. My garage is not heated, so things tend to rust up. So things that I replaced or refurbished years ago have come full circle and now need to be done all over again. I replaced the mirrors and window glass and now the mirrors are starting to cloud up and the windows are starting to delaminate. It's a good thing I enjoy working on these cars.

WOW is right! That's a beauty. Did you install the interior yourself, or is there someone up there doing 'A' interiors/upholstery? Nicely done.
(Hope my hours perusing Ford Barn don't count towards the final/finished tally). Thanks for the pics. Very inspiring.

Yes I did install it myself with my wife's help on the seats. It was not too bad although I did make a few mistakes that I hope someday to have the opportunity to avoid (work on a PU). Likewise for everything else I did. I learned a lot!

dont have picture of my 31 coupe, but its all black... i always liked the four doors in red....they look (finnished).....enjoy it , and drive the ....out of her

Nice looking car! It is never over, and depending on your age, if you think it is, you had better get out there fast and get another "A" to restore, or get ready to greet your maker.
