I know that this posting should be in the wanted swap meet section.
I did post it there but I am posting it here as well so that I could
someone to help me out!

I am looking for a new or used AR cast iron brake drum.

I could be worn, warped, cracked etc.....

I need it so that i can get them reproduce and available for the Model A industry.

Please let me know if you have one.

I will pay for it and the shipping cost.

Thanks

I was under the impression that Ford didn't make cast iron brake drums available on Model A's until 1931, obviously past the so-called AR era. Did Ford retroactively also offer AR cast iron drums that year and after the Model A ceased production? I am not a parts book and numbers kind of guy, so I have nothing printed that I can search.
I salute your effort to bring this product to the marketplace for AR owners in need of new brake drums. I hope there are enough AR owners out there to make the effort and investment you will be making worthwhile to you.

Hello Marshall;

Thanks for your response.

Ford produced and used only stamped steel AR brake drums. They did not produce a cast iron AR brake drum. Cast iron AR brake drums were reproduced as an aftermarket part many years later and sold thru some of the major Model A suppliers. I am looking for one of the aftermarket cast iron AR brake drum.

Many years ago, I did try taking some of our standard front cast iron brake drums and opening the center hole to accommodate an AR hub. Sold them to a few customers and had some good and some not so good results. Mainly a problem with the offset of the drum and issues with wheels fitting flush on the face of the drum.

This is why I want an aftermarket cast iron AR brake drum so that I do not have issues again and that I can take care the needs. I have had many requests, so I know that my time and effort and investment will be worthwhile.

Surely there are AR restoration projects out there that have stalled, sitting for years in garages, covered in dust and cardboard boxes. Maybe someone bought one of those repo cast iron AR drums and never installed it. That would be ideal if you could borrow one to use as a template for your new cast iron AR drums. Do you still have a list of the people who bought your initial run of AR drums years ago? If so, try contacting them to see if they can help you out.

They certainly have to have the smaller diameter land around the lugs and allow the wheel center rim to fit all the way down on that land. The bolt pattern is unchanged. That is a very good idea for model A owners that have the early cars that have those wheels but need new and/or better drums. The service bulletin on page 328 only have cross section illustrations of the early stamped steel drums on rear hubs. The early hubs were different too. Man, I hope you can find those drums.
