Yo guys, can you tell if these are AR to suit my june 28 model.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170580904834&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

I told him my car has no separate handbrake.

This is his response...

The condition is good and from what i understand is that you can use these with or with out hand brake, the inner i/d is 280mm they are quite clean but would need emery paper ran over them, ther ar of AR AS I CHECK WITH THE OLD FELLOW I AM SELLING THEM FOR,I DONT HAVE MESSURING INSTRUMENTS TO GET EXACT SISE BUT JUDGING FROM LOOKING AT THEN THEY SEEM TO BE FINE. I DID ASK ABOUT THE CONDITION OF THEM FROM OLD MATE AND HE SAID THEY ARE FINE,

From those photo's and the description, I would stay away from these. They may or may not be for an early car! Without measuring the drums, how do you know they are any better than what you have?

Was why I posted topic, hoping guys could tell by ebay ad.

Without measuring the drums,

He has given me a preliminary figure of 280 mm.
If I decide to buy, I will ask him for a more accurate figure.

They gotta be better than mine!!!!

They measure about 283.3 mm inside and I measured outside at 286mm.

That leaves 1.35 mm thickness or less than .060 inch.

Once I chase up accurate measurements, if out is 286 and in is 280, that leaves 3mm thick or .120 inch .

And if they truly only need emery, they are worth that dosh to me.

here in OZ, new drums are about 240 bucks each.

Can anyone supply the exact figure of a new standard AR drum inside diameter?

Pooch. i have a set of good ones here complete with hubs, Come pay a vist & collect . some cheep air fares at times, Not sure cost in freight.
The rain has stopped after 8inches. ready for xmas.

These things actually got me home 230 KMs of highway driving when I bought car 4 months ago.

About .060 thick and scores deeper than Keith Richard"s face.

And the lining.....do ya reckon I can re-use this?

Well, gotta love the net.

A bit of research shows the early AR drums to have a large hole in guts.

The ones in this ebay ad have small holes.

You are right Pooch, yours are not that good! Maybe you could save the shoes.... and the hubs of course! Brakes will last thousands of miles, if you don't use them. You know that the early hubs are different than the later ones, right?

Yeh Jim, these are what I need.

Front and rears are same .

BTW, the best price I can find for the soft woven linings is ...

(email from Mikes afordable.com)

The cheapest way to get these to Australia is going to be US postal. The linings cost $72.95 and the A2051Fl cost $26.95. The postage charge will be about $50.30.

The A2051FL work but they can make the brakes squeak.
