Anyone try open end ratcheting wrenches?

I've had a set of Sears open end "ratchet" wrenches for years. They work as designed. I don't know if I'd trust them for heavy work though.
Rog

i agree they do work rather well but for fianl tightening or initial loostening id go for box end...

the rathet box gear wrenches are very handy yet i always forget i have them lol

Snap-On offered the speed open end wrenches in the early '60s. They usually ended up in the tool box not being used.

Like all open end wrenches, they only have two surfaces on the bolt or nut, and the 'ratcheting' type have less than two. That is too few if the nut is old, stuck, valuable, or anything less than perfect, then you risk rounding it off. 6 point saves your fastener and is the best chance of getting the item loose or tight without damage.
On old stuff, this is even more true. Some fasteners are not easily replaced, as I am finding out quickly.
I have some crossmember bolts that are 7/16 x 24. Standard fine thread is 20!

I have a set I got as a gift years ago. I hate them. Don't waste your money. I'd gladly trade mine for a set of plain ol' Craftsman combination wrenches.

I got a set of Sears for my birthday years ago. I didn't like um either and sold um at a swap meet for $10.00.
To each their own!
