My cousing bought some '36 3 window parts from him a few months ago. Sent him the money via Western Union. Now nothing. No parts, won't return emails. Did we get screwed? He talked the talk. He definitely knew about '36s, so it didn't seem like a scam. Suggestions?

You might consider going on the EFV8C/A website and contacting someone like
Chris Sanders or Bob Flint at RG127 EFV8C in the UK. They may know David Rogers. JM

If you dont get a response here, Try the Hamb, lots of rodders from UK there.
That probably know Mr david if he exist.

Don't know the name.

Alarm bells are ringing as soon as you said Western Union.

Was it a London address?

yes youve been scamed, with all the warnings that have been posted about sending western union or money grams to england im surprised you did that, live and learn, hope it wasnt to much money. ever wonder why there are so many old ford parts over there? the chances are if you cant find it here it doesnt exist

If you were on the old FORDBARN, you would have known not to send money to the UK for parts. These guys got exposed over and over. The word is, that they are actually in Nigeria. I hope that it wasn't too much money. You can kiss it good-by.

Ray, I noticed the same thing. When I put something up for sale here on the new Barn, I do not get any emails from the scammers. Now, I have asked the EFV8 Club regional group in the UK to put an ad on their website for a Ford Pilot part that I'm looking for. So far I have gotten two scam messages from that ad. Here is one of them that I am 99% sure is a scammer. Notice he now says he is from the USA instead of the UK. LOL JM

"Hello I am David Howard Moss from USA, i saw your wanted advert on internet, are you still interested? let me know i have it for sale, and in good condition,if you need some pics, i can send them to you once i hear from you, so we can bargain price, please i only need a serious buyer and i only accept Bank check, Money order or Cash through a registered mail,e.g UPS,Royal mail,Parcel force,EMS from your local post office, where i will have my money in my possession and before i will ship the item to you ........ shipping is free and your package will be insured with 100% safe delivery, let me know if still interested, thanks and your urgent response will be appreciated
Best RegardsMoss"

Here is another apparent scammer who answered the same ad..........

"Good Day, How are you doing.. I am Mr RACHEL COOPER From England UK. Please are you still interested in buying the above item subjected on my mail? I have it still in perfect and good condition. if interested, i will email details as soon as i hear from you thanks"

Like I said in the original post, it wasn't me, it was my cousin (and indirectly my Dad). And I was on the old Fordbarn but didn't post as much as now. And believe me, my heart sank when he told me he sent the money Western Union. I found out after the fact. The whole internet/car parts thing is new to him. I was HOPING that with this guy's knowledge of '36 Fords, that it wasn't a scam. One of the things he was offering up were the wires that hold up the headliner. What "average guy scammer" even knows what those are? They learned a lesson the hard way for sure. It doesn't suck any less though. :(

lol the first post is really kind of suspicious, all tho he didnt ask for a western union or money gram and did offer pictures, he is not from the U.S even tho he says hes here, he talks english but he doesnt understand how to speak it or fraze sentences i would like to know where he wants you to send the payment, the second one is definatly not an englishman, that one i wouldnt even keep long enough to re read it

The emails JM 35 Sedan posted are classic scam emails - they don't read very well and don't include any specifics about the part you are looking for so that the same email can be used bulk mailed out for many ad's automatically.

If your cousin got to the point of discussing 36 Ford parts with someone who was convincing, it doesn't sound like a typical Nigerian scammer.

But unfortunately, there are still dodgy deals out there even amongst car guys.

Do you have any more clues about what part of England the guy was from, or anything else that might help track them down.

My cousin sent me the email string. Reading through it, he's obviously a scammer.
