I took the 40 coupe out for drive. It ran great, temp was around 180. Got back in the garage, opened hood and I see this white spray on fire wall, top of underside of hood and battery side facing radiator. I thought maybe antifreeze, but its dry not wet, No smell of gas. No apparent leaks that I can see.

So what the heck is it?

No detailing but that's what it looks like a white dray spray. Nothing on the fan. Roads dry.

Did you wash it before the drive? If so, it could be from soap suds that didn't get rinsed from the radiator fins. Weird.

Hi Everyone, 30-9, I'll jump in... Does it smell like anything interesting?

Did you look under there before the drive or only after?

I'm thinking it got under there prior to the drive...

Engine and fire wall was clean prior to drive. It's only on passenger side. Paper towel with water came right off no smear, no smell. my guess based on location would be antifreeze but like I said its dry spray

 Am I missing something here? Did you, after turning off the engine and then noticing the material on the fire wall, start the engine and then look for the source?

Good question, I did restart the car in the garage and looked while it was running, but nothing evident. The spray looks like it occurs when I was driving 55-60 based on the location of spray - upper firewall and underside of hood.

Could antifreeze dry like that?

I don't see any leak around the head bolts - but again would antifreeze make a white dry spots? - I see same white spots on the hose that goes from the top of head to radiator.

But in my mind antifreeze would say wet not dry.....
