Any truth to this story?......

I found several lincolns just the other day. They were shiny clean and sitting on the dryer in the laundry room. I hate it when I forget to take change out of my pocket.

I too have heard the story of the freight carrier that sunk in lake Erie with a cargo of autos, but never heard of what Mfg. At this point what does it matter what Mfg the cars were? This story is true. Erie is considered the most dangerous of the great lakes in a storm due to it's shallow depth, huge waves and swells . there was an announcement just a couple of weeks ago of the finding of one of the many missing ship wrecks from the early part of last century, (steam powered paddle wheel). In the 1800's, 10's, 20's, 30's a lot of freight was moved by ship seems most of it now moves overland by truck or train. In this area iron ore and products of steel Mfg still move over lake Erie by ship.

I had a friend, who, while in the Army, during WWII, in Germany, told me of how he and some others, were given orders to run all of the German military motorcycles, from that captured base, into the river.

This story could have been believed in NZ a few years back.
It used to take forever to get things delivered by Rail around NZ, many times stuff never turned up and found different owners on the way.

Being raised a Rail Road brat, I have heard simular stories. Was told by an old timer that the only thing he had heard was abit more beleivable. 34 Fords found in 1945. Not that hard to beleive that one. Rod

i was in college in late '50's and my roomate in the dorm was a navy veteran. he said his ship stopped on the island of attu between alaska and russia. he said there were rows and rows of new military jeeps and motor cycles and barrels of gasoline that had abandoned after the war.

he said they started the jeeps and motor cycles and raced them around and wrecked a few of them. he said they ran some of the motorcycles down the docks and jumped off of them as they ran them off the docks and into the water. he said the water was clear and they could see the motor cycles in the water.

he said they only stayed a day and there were long lines of the jeeps and motor cycles still there when they left.

This is a Flat-head from a War supplies ship that was carrying a load of Ford Motors .It ran aground in RaroTonga in the 1940s .

The story of the Dodges being pulled off the ice is true. We saw one of them last year at a light house in the U.P. If I remember right there were some newspaper articles posted near the car showing them being off loaded on the ice.

I purchased 3 old fords and a Bush, from a warehouse in Poughkeepsie NY about 20 years ago. They were there for years all in nice shape. One model A two T's and a 1919 Bush touring car. The Bush had only 1900 miles on it . Sold them all the Bush had been written up in several Mags and the story of me finding them. The warehouse was sealed up tight and I purchased them from a man called Jack Muman.
