Any tricks to fitting a 1938 motor mount?

I put the engine and trans on my chassis today but I'm not pleased with the way the motor mount assembly goes together.

I've got the washer registered into the hole in the frame, then the rubber biscuit on top of the washer with the pointed end up.

Problem is the umbrella end that sits down onto the washer doesn't go inside the cup of the washer. That causes the mount to not fit together and I've barely got any threads coming up thru the water pump ear.

Anybody else run into this and have any tricks to remedy it?

Is that the engine mount supplied by Macs?

I bought some recently and had the same concern. I left out the cup washer because I was using it in an early frame which has a sort of cup built into the frame.

But I think there is a second issue. The lower rubber pad has two registers on it one for the smaller frame holes and one for the larger holes. Do they expect you to cut off the one you don't need? I thought so, and cut off the other one. If you don't cut off the wrong one it takes up another 3/16" or so of bolt length.

Re the upper rubber and the cup washer. I don't know, but do you think it might be possible to cut down the diameter a bit, like a chamfer, so it fit in better? But the reality is, we shouldn't have to be reworking these things to make them work.

I know it would be easier to just get some better ones from another supplier, but that isn't so easy when there is a long distance involved.

Bob Drakes mounts fit properly. There is supposed to be a washer under the nut as well. I can not tell if the fit problem is related to the size of the cup washer or the excessive size of the rubber mount. The steel band around the ribber mount appears large in your photo.

I did the same as Mart, cut the lower rubber pad.Seems like they made them for 2 styles of frame so i used a razor blade to remove the incorrect side.

I'm not sure if your mount bolt is the same , but for my 32, I added a bushing, of the right length, 5/8 O.S., 5/16 I.S to a longer standard 5/16 bolt to make a custom bolt with the required shoulder.

Okay, I can trim off the smaller shoulder of the smaller rubber bushing and that will give me some extra threads coming out the top, maybe 1/4" more.

BUT...what about the rubber biscuit not sitting down inside the lip of the big washer?

Yes, they were purchased thru Mac's, but I'm sure they are manufactured by someone else. I called this morning and Becky in Customer Service was pretty helpful in looking up the part and any history of returns on it. Then I talked to RJ in the Tech department and he said basically the same thing, over 1000 units sold and only 4 returns. He is however going to go out to the warehouse and put his hands on a kit to see what the fitment problem is. He will call me back later this morning.
