I would like to see if any of you guys would like to get together for a fall or summer tour. I know the gas prices are high, but we not getting younger either. JM 35 is the man to talk to. Check out this link:http://www.gsmnp.com/ We had a lot of fun last year, Chuck.

Sounds interesting so lets hear more about it.I love to tour and have not tour in the North East. That would be great. What dates have you come up with?

Depending on the dates you gentlemen pick, I'd like to join you. I plan on cruising around the New England states from Friday Sept 2nd thru Monday Sept 12th. I have two objectives, drive Big Olds in Maine and attend the Ty-Rods event on Sunday Sept 11th. Other then that I've got no set plans in the area.

Chuck, that sounds good, sure wish I could make it up there for that. I’m still planning on going to the Moonshine Festival in Dawsonville, GA in October and it would be nice to try and combine the suggested Blue Ridge Parkway tour with the Festival. I’ve got to talk to John about that. Vic

I'm in the early planning stages of putting together a tour along the Blue Ridge Mountains/Parkway of VA, NC, TN & maybe GA for the latter part of October, 2011. Anyone would be welcome to join in on this tour regardless of what type of car you have or at what point you would like to join in or drop out. So far I have received a huge pile of literature to review. There seems to be an endless amount of places to see and things to do along this parkway. I need to nail down some basic things like a meeting/starting location, and how far south we would like to go. So far, I believe I have Chuck Stevens, Bill Wzorek, Vic Piano and I think Cecil Polan and Henry Horrocks as volunteers to help me organize, plan, or otherwise promote this tour. That's about all I can communicate for now. Stay tuned for more info in the next couple months. Send me a PM or email if you think you may be interested in joining in or helping out. Thank you!

PS.....I've never put a tour like this together before so this should be lots of fun :)

Here is one of the websites I have used for planning info:

Chuck, are you possibly planning to put together another NE tour this year? I really enjoyed the tour you put together last year (even though I got lost a couple times :D. Thank God for my GPS). I really enjoyed driving the back roads of VT and NH. Absolutely beautiful country! The visit to Ol' Ron's place and Mt. Washington were just a couple of the high points for me. Let's get these old cars out and drive 'em. The money we spend on gas will soon be forgotten and the memories of the trip will be priceless.

That is definately something I'd like to do again. Not to include the boil over this time. Where are you thinking, Maine coast or Mass, Ct & RI? No matter where it will be fun. John is right the memories will mean more than the gas prices. Let me know if you want to check out some destinations.

When we came home from Florida early April we took a detour and ran for a couple of hours on the Blue Ridge. What a great road for old cars (45-50 mph) and wonderful lookouts and historic stops. We would certainly enjoy joining a New England cruise and as someone suggested maybe southern NE this year - Connecticut and Rhode Island coast to Cape Cod. We are going to Cape Cod 4th of July weekend in the 46. John

Sorry if I misled anyone, the tour I was talking about will be in the fall and will be thruogh the smoky mountains via the blue ridge parkway. We will need all of your ideas to help organize this, so don't be shy. Watch this site for updates.

Chuck, count me in on anything I can do to help. I’m planning on going to the Moonshine Festival in Dawsonville, GA, October 21st to 23rd. If there is a chance to combine the two events, that might work well. Vic

Sorry to say Vic I'm out for the Moonshiine Festival as I just found out I'm heading to Chicago that weekend for a dear relatives 90 birthday bash.

Chuck,

My daughter does horse shows in Virginia all through Culpepper, Lexington etc. A blueridge trip could be very cool. You could go upscale and hit the homestead or greenbrier and go down to the biltmore or groves Inn in North Carolina. Or there are one or two state run motels right on the Blueridge. I think it books up so you would need to book in advance. If you publicized the route, local people could join for the day.

If you were going 50 you were speeding...LOL most times you can only do 35 or 40. Summer you get bicycles which are a pain to go around.
