Was there any differnce in a A and a AA front axle size?

28-29 was the same as A, 30-31 much heavier.

were the two axles marked differently? I have a 28 pickup and I noticed that the axle has AA stamped on the inside of the front axle.

The AA stamped on the axle has to do with the type of steel used (I believe but I could be wrong), not whether it is for an A or AA.

Look at your spring perches. They will be stamped AA and the balls sit a little higher than an A.

Axle , king pins, spindle arms and tie rod are the same as car in 1928- Sept. 29. Wheel bearings, spindles, perches, spring and u bolts are different A/AA,
