I have had this 66 for almost twenty years, always treated it like a prima donna driven only on the week ends. Now it's my only truck! I just came down to Florida from upstate NY (1250miles), and it used only 62 gallons of gas. It's a 300 six with an AOD trans and 3:70 rear, it has 77 disk brakes and power steering, and a Clifford intake with a Holley 4BBL. I feel more attached to her than ever after the trip, Chuck.

Nice ride Charlie,300's are bullet proof, had a 88 w/300 six great engine and they dropped it for that lousy V6. ken ct.:) Got 6 more " of the white stuff more comming tues i hear. ENOUGH

I have the same set-up on my 66, late model exhaust manifolds and duels with a Clifford intake and a Holley 390 cfm 4BBL. With the AOD gets 20+mpg on the hi-way, even with all the alcohol that's in the gas.
Ken you will see this 66 f-100 at the ford barn bash in March. I'll have to stay down here till July the way the north east keeps getting hit. Hope to see then, Chuck.

Yea were going down see you there. We got more comming tonite and tomorrow. Enough is enough all ready. I see you got the later dual split exhaust on it. super.ken ct. Ausum sound from a 6 banger i bet.

I had quiet mufflers on mine; I don't like driving with loud exhaust. I could never get better than 18 m.p.g. with it. Stock 300 from a '80 van, full rebuild, dual advance distributor from a '66 300, Offenhauser C intake with 2 barrel adapter plate and front & back of the intake divided, Autolite 2100 two barrel size 1.01, water heated spacer plate, 3.73 rear axle, and a T85 with R11 overdrive transmission. Cruising a steady 70 all I got was 17.5 m.p.g.

The turquoise long bed had a 352, overdrive, and 3.50 rear axle. It got 16 m.p.g. I had a tan long bed with a 352, straight 3 speed, and 3.25 rear. It got 15 m.p.g.

I am currently working on a '66 F250 4 x 4... The engine was a 352 with a new process T-18 trans. I am putting a '68 390 engine in it, keeping the NP trans.
The 63-66 F-250 4 x 4's are very unusual trucks. They have a short/long wheelbase, i.e. they are not a six foot bed, nor are they the '64-66 8' style of bed. Mine had the "delux" '57-60 fleet side bed which does not quite fit the style of the cab.. The more common bed on the F-250's was the step side bed.
The suspension on the F-250 appears to have been built for a military spec. The spring hangers are very heavy duty, similar to those found on a F-500 truck.. No shackles, progressive roller blocks on the spring ends.
The steering column and steering wheel also differs from a regular pickup. The steering gears are HD truck with the HD truck column and wheel.
The cab is a combination of '63-64-65 &-66. The cab has the early built in running boards (63-64) with the 65-66 instruments.
The truck was an unmolested farm truck that had been out of service for many years when I found it.
I am going to shorten an 8' 65-66 bed nine inches in the front, that will center the tires in the wheel well, this will make the truck look like a '66 in lieu of a mixed up what-is-it...

Here is my seven-year-old at the wheel of my daily driver. 240-inch six with a four speed (wish it still had the stock 3 on the tree).

I love this truck!

Well here are some pics of my original old 66 4x4, I use it to hunt parts for my 41, otherwise it does not get much use. Bought it from the original owners 15 years ago with 49 thousand on it. Not a flathead like my 41 but still a Ford.

You did not say what model your pickup is, based on the bed and hub caps, I would guess that you have a F100.
