Another one gone - Don Baxter

Received word today that Don Baxter of Baxter Ford in Lawrence, Ks has passed away.

Don was a wealth of knowledge on our early Fords and always willing to share that knowledge.

I always had a good time stopping by the store and visiting with him about early Fords and the early days of drag racing.

He will be sorely missed by family and friends.

Godspeed Don.

Wow! This is a shock. Don helped me out big time when I needed 4 97's for a Weiand "four-in-a-row" on the Chrysler hemi in my dirt car. He dug out 4 carbs with minor cosmetic problems and rebuilt them for me and sold them at a rock bottom price. Everyone else I talked to just blew me off. Do you have any information if Baxter Ford will continue in business or be shut down? Hopefully, the operation will continue on.

I imagine Don's son Bob will continue. He and Don were a wealth of Flathead knowledge. They helped me a lot with parts and Bob rebuilt my Flathead. My prayers are with the family.

John

I had a lot of dealings with him years ago, we worked on fabricating some parts together. But hadn't talked to him for several years. Sorry to hear of his passing.

Bought a lot of parts from Don. He helped me thru several FH builds with really good parts. Always enjoyed talking with him. He will be missed. God Bless.

Don was a real deal flathead guy. I will really miss him. Does anyone know when he passed, and when the services will be?

Have bought many V8 parts from Don and Bob over the years... and made several visits to their shop. They are the best and my first go to source for V8 parts.
Always have been and will still be.,
I usually called at the end of the day and so sometimes he'd say , "hey.. its not 5'O clock yet... what are you doing calling so early"
We had many a nice conversation...
Condolence's to Bob and their family. Don was the best!

I was just over there buying parts from Bob and he told me that Don wasn't feeling to well, he sure knew his parts. Really a helpful guy. Bob is probably pretty old to but I think he will keep the store open.
