Another GG Question for Electronic gurus

I have an after marker sending unit that reads about right with the engine off or at slow idle but the gauge goes past full when enough RPM,s for the generator charge, Was wondering if anyone has used an IC type voltage regulator to power the gauge at a constant 6v where it seems to work.

I think the gauge itself has an adjustment to compensate for sending unit pulse variations. Jack E/NJ

The resistor type of sender is going to provide different signals to the gauge with different input voltages (it's actually different grounding resistance, but whatever). A regulated source to the gauge should correct that.
