Another Flopped repair

hey jim!!

glad ya liked the repair!

i doubt there will ever be feet in that area . either tiger hair em up . lead them up . or jb weld .

tiger hair probably being the easiest to sand back down .

If I recall, tiger hair is filler with figerglass strands right? in that case aren't yu basically ending up with filler in the pits and then a filler and fiberglass layer over it all (there by adding to the thickness) or else I would be sanding the fiber glass out wouldn't I?

Jim,

I'm sorry to learn that you won't be in Georgia next month. I was looking forward to meeting you and to seeing your car.

I was not happy , but I'm not retired yet and a new consulting project came up that I can't take the time off from. Going "All in" for Tahoe at this point. Also aiming for the Hemmings cruise-in in July as it is only 30 miles from my dad's house and we will be in Manchester for the horse shows... Last Summer for the horses so the cars come next :).

Thought I would post the progess. Did the tiger hair route. I know I have a spot of tiger hair I missed sanding, will get it when I sand the primer

Of course I buggered up the easy part. I got a grease view cover thing (the round cover), nice shape, no rust just needs paint. stripped it all down primed it them got impatient painting it and got a big run. I tried just sanding the run off and repainting and the paint got wrinkles..... so off to the store for more stripper and starting from scratch. At least I got good news in that my shocks are done....

My usual method for the black parts is Dad's stripper (sprayable), rust-evolve overnight, wirebrush/sand, acetone, primer, light sand, rustoleum black appliance paint. I only have issues if I rush the rustoleum or forget to clean well and dry well between coats. Seems to work well... I have nothing against the POR-15, just can't get it at local hardware store and don't plan well enough to order it ahead.

Much better the second... third...actually fourth time around.... :o
