Another Cooling Thread- need advice

Today i put some coolant additive and radiator rust inhibitor in there.
that, with the coolant, didnt help much at all on the drive. within fine minutes, it started with the back firing, the carb was flooded, and the gasoline was full of bubbles again. i can post a video if it helps.

Hello All,

tl;dr:
over heated engine after ten minutes, new leakless pump, good clog test, no oil/bubbles in drained water or radiator, top water connection 215+, car ran great in april, parked since.
oil is currently at full, maybe past full, will remove some today to mid-full line and retest.

Engine overheated this weekend to the point that gasoline wasnt making it to the carb and causing a ton of back firing after maybe 5 minutes on the road.
Took a heat monitor to the engine yesterday and it reach temps in the top water connection on the engine back to the radiator and it was reading well over boiling.
The water pump was replaced this winter with a brand new leakless, removed my 160 degree thermostat, clog tested the radiator- it emptied in less than 10 seconds, timing was done a few month ago and ran very breifly since then.

All I can think of is the head gasket being bad. but the water has no bubbles or presence of oil. i have over filled the oil, and will drain that a tad this after

if anyone has some advice or something im missing i would appriciate it. Ive used youtube and the red book for help.

Your radiator is a major part of your problem, if not the problem.

I have been at this for a long time. You need good flow, 10 seconds is not going to do much.

Back this week with an update.

back flushed the hell out of the radiator and engine. a ton of chunks came up, pieces of old gaskets and rust like in the picture. i cant estimate how much came up. maybe enough to fill my palm.
i did ten rinses on the radiator alone, and for the engine i just let it run for a few minutes, multiple times, until it seemed like we were getting just a few flakes.
so the system is thoroughly flushed now.

i noticed the flow was far better then when i first flushed.
should i be concerned with how much came up? i dont, want wont for a year or two, have the funds for a whole engine rebuild.

I havent ran it because of work/weather. expected rains until tuesday.

Thank you again for everyones help. i'm slowly getting to it all.

It’s like flushing a toilet. Once it’s gone, you don’t have to worry about it.

Well, Paul, this is one time I will disagree with you.

The problem with the low flow toilet is that the float gets stuck. Then you have to call Renners, get the correct float, turn your toilet upside down and install the correct float and gaskets.

This is what I use, and I never have to call renners.
