Another carb needs repair

On a side note, a lot of naysayers including some professional authors said this repair either couldn't -or shouldn't be done. Social media is full of people who (IMHO) lack the skills to be able to perform such a task and therefore choose to publicly discourage others (-who unlike them might have those skills) and tell them it can't be done. This thread should be a lesson to everyone, including me that this is bad for the hobby.

I'm of the camp not that it couldn't - or shouldn't be done - but why. Time and cost of the repair exceeds what I have seen good parts for at swap meets. Yes I've got the skill to do the fix and probably even have some 1/2x20 coils in the garage to do it - but as they say time is money. Joe average who hasn't done this before will probably buy a kit and drill bit for nearly $40. I run across complete carbs for $20 and upper/lower bodies for $5-10.

As Brent said in his post above, I've always approached a repair like this as if it were the only part like this in existence so it wasn't about the time or the money. I wanted to see if it could be done successfully and I was very pleased with the outcome. For me, it's very satisfying to put an otherwise useless, worn out old car part destined for the landfill put back into useful service. Part of the fun of the hobby I guess. :)
