Another '39 transmission ??

What an interesting and informative thread this is. No matter how much knowledge a person has there is always something left to learn. Every member on this site is important, from the most knowledgeable to the least. Sometimes what seems like a simple question evolves into a learning experience for many! No wonder I spend so much time here every day as it makes me realize how little I know. So grateful for everyone!!!!!!!!!!

Agree 100%. Well said.

I should have made mention about the slots in the blocker rings before, how they have to fit the detent/alignment plates. The windows have s strict dimension to fit those plates. Some were too narrow to properly fit the movement of those plates. The crack in that window illustrates how important it is for the window to be the correct dimension.

The other thing is that the taper of those blocker rings acts as a brake of sorts to slow the movement between the synchronizer and the input shaft that matches the rpm to allow the smooth engagement of the synchro to the other moving part. That cracked blocker is worn down so much that it wouldn't brake at all and especially after it cracked open.
