Ampmeter

Started up my early 28 today with rebuilt powerhouse generator supposedly set for 7A. The ampmeter needle is now out of view and bent all the way to the left. What happened?

Sounds to me like you've got a short somewhere.

Engine off and lights on, which way does the ammeter needle move?

Also be sure of battery polarity. The powerhouse is adjusted the same as the long style.........moving the adjustable brush against the direction of armature rotation (up)will decrease the output. I wouldn't have more than about 3 amps output for my type of driving.

It it possible that the ammeter experienced a surge and has now stuck in the far left by riding onto a pinstop or other obstruction?
