amber vs red tail lights

I recall reading somewhere that some in a few states the law will only permit red lenses for stop lights, regardless of the year of manufacture of the vehicle. You might ask about this.

This is one of those areas I make a concession for safety. Today people are used to seeing red for stop lights. I know it is a slippery slope and I will probably do something else next.

if you can read this you're too close.

I put the LED replacement lamps in my160-B last year, I resisted as long as I could because I hate the look of the little lamps, but they are so bright it becomes a safety thing. I took the car out on a NY state highway and had the same old problem of people zooming up behind me and hitting their brakes at the last second. I turned the parking lights on and they can see them from so far away they think they are my brakes and stay away. If you do a lot of touring, these are a great option to have.

Red has become the "official" color for stop lights. We have all red lenses on the cars used for touring. We also have switched to the led tail lights, much brighter than the original bulbs. We did a report testing the lumen output of each of these in the Model A Times.
