Amazing new stud extractor

The studs that were still intact were given the electric induction heater treatment. They ALL came loose after a couple minutes each with this tool. I would never again attempt to remove a block stud without using this tool.

I also have had 100% success with induction heating to remove studs.

Will and I recently removed the studs from a core block…..actually two of them. There were a couple studs that were already snapped off. The studs that were still intact were given the electric induction heater treatment. They ALL came loose after a couple minutes each with this tool. I would never again attempt to remove a block stud without using this tool. You all know how disappointing it is to carefully try to unscrew a stud and feel it break off. I’m a firm believer in this induction method.

100%. The indication heater tool is a game changer. Absolutely better than using a torch and more effective.

I soaked the studs where they met the block with special penetrating fluid that Tim mentioned "Free All".

I sprayed the studs three different times over 2 weeks, then did my process to remove the studs. The collet type extractor was an awesome tool in that it was long/deep enough to go almost all the way to the bottom of the longer studs - it picks up the larger diameter area (the last 1/2" or so of the factory stud). When a stud comes out, you can see that it gripped it 360 degrees around the stud (that has to help).

Another reason the induction heating works well is that the heat bakes off all the penetrating fluid on the bottom of the stud - exactly where the collet grips the stud. This may also be a part of the "secret sauce".

Anyway, I can only hope that in the future I have similar luck with other blocks - as this was amazing!

Interesting. I have a few studs stuck in my second C69A that need to be removed, but I haven’t tried anything yet as I do not want to break them.
