aluminum radiators

Hmm. Look problematical and perhaps undersized thermally. (2 rows?)

I would not spend my money!!!

Hi Guys: You'll find this is for a Hot Rod and the rad hose upper and lower pipes will be in the wrong place and the wrong size. I may not have the upper hood rod brkt. installed also.

Tinbasher

They will cool adequately but the upper neck is not in the correct location and the fins look "modern" in my view. We relocated the neck on an aluminum Model T rad that was cooling a 'banger' Model A.

The other problem with the repro radiators is the lack of provision for the crank. They are straight across and you can't insert the crank into the engine for timing etc.

I contacted this company to see if they make a aluminum radiator for a stock model T. They said they make most for street rods but if i would send them a stock radiator they would make one just like it. They said it would take up to 45 days and be the standard price. I do not have the $850 for a new one. Mine needs the tanks and core. If it means not driving this summer or using an aluminum one i would choose aluminum.

I'm sorry I'm confused. Where is this company? The link states it's in Zibo Shandong, China. You say "..if I would send them a stock radiator they would make one just like it." Are you saying you are going to send a stock radiator to China? At what cost and how long will it take to get there? Let's say 14 days to get there, 45 days to make, 14 days to get back here, that's what 2 1/2 months. and how much money, never mind the need to drill the brackets?

Bergs radiator,
We also offer re-coring services and have original Ford radiators rebuilt and ready to go.

1928-29 radiator with flat tube core $575.00
1928-29 radiator with round tube core $775.00
1930-31 radiator with flat tube core $575.00

How much are you really saving going aluminum when you can have it in a week or two?

I purchased an American made alloy radiator supposedly made to fit the 28-29 radiator shell off EBay, but the side brackets did not line up with the holes in the shell and it was not quite wide enough, so the fins were not quite the full width of the opening which is visually a little disappointing.
I've yet to run the car, but otherwise the quality appears very good.
Also, as I'm using a 30-31 chassis, I had to lower the mounting flanges about an inch to get it to sit at the right height,
Being in New Zealand made it impossible to send it back for alterations

Here are some photos of the alloy radiator

A good copper & brass rad will cool the A very well in the hottest of conditions--Death Valley at 55* or so C ?But you also have to have clean water jackets or no rad will keep it cool.

THE ALLOY RADIATOR COST US$495
And I forgot to mention that it arrived with the wrong thread on the neck for the radiator cap and without the bracket for the hood stays and consequently we had to remove the bracket off a scrap radiator and rivet and glue it onto the alloy header tank.
Disappointing in that respect, especially as it's hard/near impossible to weld brass and steel components to alloy

If Im not mistaking... Wouldnt you prefer a three row radiator rather than a two row? The two rows dont provide the adequate cooling you would need in my opinion. I would recommend ordering a radiator from Brattons. 3 row & 6 FINS PER INCH
