aluminum radiator

Question for all. I'm upgrading from stock 1952 v8 radiator to aluminum. Anyone know if they bolt in the same or would there have to be modifications? Thanks one and all!

I'm guessing here, but I would think you would need to ID the supplier and maybe the model number so someone with a similar unit or experience can jump in with an answer.

Here's "direct fit" supplier. Call and get specifics including shroud availability.
Having a shroud makes a big cooling difference. Is it stick or automatic? Will the radiator accomodate a transmission cooler? Is your engine a V8 or straight 6?

I see this is your first post. Tell us about your car with photos, if possible.
Is your current engine stock? Does it have A/C? Has it been modified in any way that
requires a bigger radiator for cooling effectiveness? Do research before just buying because "it's a good deal."

Not trying to be a smartass here, but point of fact, a change from brass/copper to aluminum radiator is a downgrade in ALL respects except the age of the unit. There are brass/copper newly manufactured radiators available, and they will fit the application specified. A less expensive way to go is to have your old radiator recored, which is what most guys do.

Aluminum isn't the way to go in my opinion. Only benefit, they are usually cheaper, and weigh less but don't cool quite as well as copper/brass radiators and are more fragile than copper/brass. Only way to repair them is pinch off the tube that is leaking and use epoxy on the leak site

welcome to the 'Barn....hope you get your question answered....good luck and have fun....got pics??....lol....Mike

I would strongly consider getting your old radiator recored, you will be much happier with the results. Just went down this road recently and found I would have to do some modifications to get one to fit. Found a quality shop and had the original re done. Not three weeks later, had an aluminum radiator fail in another truck of mine. It was less than rwo years old.

I run an aluminum radiator I purchased from "Champion". (see post #3) Love it, perfect fit, great quality, quick service and inexpensive. I also have an a/c cooler mounted on the front of it.
