Aluminum heads and electrolysis?

I'm with you Ted, Copper & Aluminium Heads is a big no no, they will weld themselves onto the head stubs, eat out the water holes. You have three metals attacking each other & the Aluminium is the softest so that is what gets attacked. when I was younger & didn't know better I have had to smash them off, you only learn the hard way so if you want problems use copper head gaskets.

To check for corrosion .short of removing the head ,remove a water pump and look up inside or possibly one center head nut to see how much electrolyzes is around it .

A digital VOM will tell you instantly if you have electrolosis going on. Ground your negative lead and hold the + lead in the coolant. I've seen over 1 volt being generated in the system! You then HAVE and issue.
