altinater

I have a 57 fairlane and wondering what would fit and what it involves to go from a generater to an altinater. Any help would be appreciated.

Two things: http://www.ford-y-block.com/alternatorbrkt.htm and http://www.dbelectrical.com/p-5317-...igh-output-alternator-1-wire-10si-chrome.aspx The one wire makes it EZ run a 6 gauge cable from the alternator to the + POS terminal on the battery.

If you ever plan on installing AC there is a great bracket made by Fordcraft that fits Y blocks and neet clean install.

If it ain't broke don't fix it. A properly rebuilt generator works fine. Avoid the rebuilders that just fix the immediate problem and send it dolwn the road.

also ck out ranchwagon.com they have a set up using the old mount and wiring simple to do with hardware store materials

Somebody hacked the ranchwagon.com site with a virus it no longer works,some of my guys in 52-56 Ford Group on the HAMB used it but swapped to the link I posted above,the ranch wagon DIY was a cheap solution but it was vibration prone and caused some problems from what some members posted on the forum.

i used it for a while then put air in the vintage air mount works good for the gm 1 wire
